Hire a Managing Director
The Managing Director of the Family Office will play a multifaceted role, encompassing the development and execution of strategic investment and operational plans. They will have overarching responsibility for all family assets, including investment accounts, properties, trusts, and other interests.
A key part of their role is to establish and maintain a financial environment that upholds the family’s ethical standards and core values. This involves overseeing the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and portfolio reports, as well as liaising with external advisors like lawyers, trustees, and accountants. Additionally, they will manage the family’s activism and philanthropic initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in negotiating and managing transactions, hold an undergraduate degree (preferably with a CPA designation or MBA), and demonstrate excellent organizational and leadership skills. Experience in family office operations and exposure to real estate, tax, or investment activities is expected.
